How to InvestInternational Investors (institutions and individuals) are allowed to hold any asset class available to domestic investors in Brazil.According to the CMN (Brazilian Monetary Council) Resolution 2689, since international investors are not established or resident in the country, it is necessary to hire an institution to act as:Legal Representative Responsible to present all the registration information of the investor to the Brazilian Authorities. When the representative is an individual or a non-financial corporation, the investor must indicate a financial institution duly authorized by the Central Bank that will be jointly and severally responsible for the representative's obligation. Fiscal Representative Responsible for taxes and fiscal issues on behalf of the investor before the Brazilian Authorities. Custodian Responsible to hold updated reports and control all the assets of the international investor in segregated accounts, and provide this information anytime it is required, to the Authorities and to the investor. There was a net inflow of foreign investment to the Brazilian stock market of BRL4,930,403,780.30 through June 10. This figure includes purchases of international investors in the public offerings, which amounted to BRL 7,683,889,548.30, and the net trading value at BOVESPA, which has registered an outflow of BRL 2,753,485,768.00. In the first 10 days of June, the balance of foreign investors' trades on BOVESPA is negative, amounting to BRL 3,511,744,742.00. This value corresponds to the result from sales worth BRL 17,162,985,078.00 less purchases of BRL 13,651,240,336.00. The participation of foreign investors in public offerings, including IPOs, accounted for 52.7% of a total of BRL 14,573,139,022.00 for trades with closing announcements published by June 12, 2008.
