This is a great post! What do you think about the oil companies in Russia?

Thanks Michael! 

I like Russia and I'm currently writing up a story that includes them.  However, in terms of oil, I know they have Godzilla-like reserves and I'm sure they're far more undiscovered in Siberia.  Problem is, its expensive and very troublesome to access.  So I'm not exactly sure on oil from Russia just yet but I will look into them. 

However, I like Gazprom.  Based in Russia and the global monster of natural gas.  NatGas is normally is generally consumed short distances from its extraction mine/well, so its main revenue generators would have to be eastern europe or maybe southeast Asia.  However, I can't recommend it yet b/c I haven't done the research.  I'll look into it for you. http://www.gazprom.com/

Yea I was looking at Gazprom as well. However the history with Yukos and how there was a major power struggle raises a lot of doubts. The governemnt has a tight grip on the operations and decisions of these companies and that raises alarm to me... Looking forward to your thoughts.

Yes, having a tough minded fellow like Putin in charge makes me a bit nervous. Although, nothing opens a countries borders like money so we'll see how it shapes up. Just remember - Putin is only missing 3 letters to be RASputin, so got to watch out for similarities.
