Atom rocks! Nice going Asus. Exciting times for tech gadget guys and gals here in the Philippines!!!woot!woot! With regards to prices: I would say, since Asus had launched new models or variants, people can choose depending on their budget and purpose of buying. To give you an overview on local pricing, below are the prices in Philippine market. Actual Pricing: EEE PC 701 - Php16,000 - $357 EEE PC 900 - Php 23,500 - $524 For new models 901,1000,1000H, kindly read below for unofficial pricing. Good to note that since new models are coming, price of 701 and 900 will surely drop to give way for the new models. http://www.asus.com/news_show.aspx?id=11578 For unofficial news, Engadget is also reporting the prices as: * Eee PC 901: NT$16,988 or about $559 (on sale now in Taiwan) * Eee PC 1000(H): NT$18,988 or about $625 * Eee PC 1000: NT$19,988 or about $658 Current Taiwan Dollar to Philippine peso exchange rates are the following: Eee PC 901: P23,988.58 Eee PC 1000(H): P26,812.76 Eee PC 1000: P28,224.85 From Digitimes: Asustek Computer is planning to launch new Eee PC models, the 904 and 905, which have an 8.9-inch panel but use a similar chassis and keyboard as the company's 10.2-inch models, according to sources at channel vendors. The Eee PC 904 and 905 will adopt Atom processors and the major difference between the two and the previous 901 model is that they feature a bigger keyboard. Asustek is still evaluating whether to make changes to the two models' battery and storage capacity. The company expects the Eee PC 904 ad 905 to come out at a similar price range as the current 900 and 901, and will eventually replace them. Asustek is also considering whether to drop prices for the 900 and 901 to completely clear its inventory or leave them in the market to defend against Acer's Aspire One, noted the sources. hmmm, thanks eeexpert for such a local update. Just hope that Asustek would bring down the price to half in the Third World context; otherwise, the poor still can't afford to have it.
